Car show . . . eventually

It's Labor Day weekend and we have three whole days together! Saturday we drove down to Bisbee to see a car show. We parked up the canyon from downtown and stopped for a photo op at the very place where Sam proposed to me 14 years ago. It was called Old Tymers then, and 25 motorcycle friends witnessed the moment! It's quite a fun story, which I'll let Sam tell you another time.

Bisbee is a wonderful place to visit if you like interesting architecture, quirky details, small towns, lots of shops, mining tours, and much more. There's something for everyone.

At the inn on the right, we met a woman who showed us an abandoned mine shaft right in the middle of the hotel.

We eventually made it downtown, where Sam made a new friend (a common occurrence) in Ken, owner of this bicycle shop.

There's so much history in this town; we love it.

After walking around downtown and seeing NO classic cars, we inquired at a visitor's office. Turns out the show was in Warren, a neighborhood 5 miles away!

We finally found it and were happy to hear that Sam's friends made the same mistake. These are their cars, a Thunderbird and a Cadillac. Beautiful!

It was a great show and we saw some of Bisbee we had never seen before.

Lunch was excellent Po Boy sandwiches at this food truck owned by the son of Charlie, who owned Old Tymers 14 years ago (remember, my first photo, above).

Then we spent an enjoyable hour or so exploring 3 nearby thrift shops.

Our last stop was DQ, where I discovered their new yummy fruit smoothies. Sam opted for peanut buster parfait made totally with peanut butter; his favorite.

Hope you've had a great long weekend, everyone!
