Beginnings of a fence

We're working on the garden fence this weekend. But first we had to empty the dirt out of the bed of the pickup and drive to our local Benson Lumber for fencing supplies.

Six foot corner posts, 8 foot support posts, cement and assorted hardware. It's a good thing Sam has a long-bed truck!

We have post hole digger, but it doesn't work on our rocky Arizona soil. Sam tried using a hand auger type thing that was made for tilling the garden soil. It's hard work, but is doing a pretty good job.

Within a few hours, we had 4 corner posts cemented in place.

Next, Sam cut the smaller posts for corner supports.

We ran some string so it would be straight, then started digging those holes. It's hard work! Did I say that before?

A couple days ago, Mom and I reattached the lattice to her deck. This dates back to when we first smelled skunk under there and I removed the lattice so Sam could put the trap underneath. It's about time we put it back!

Last night we had supper at our patio table and watched a pretty nice sunset. The wind had died down and the temperature was perfect.

A few minutes later we turned around to a full moon.

Not a bad life.
