Moving right along . . . slowly

It's a cold, windy day on the Pumpkin
Patch Ranch, and the tractor parts came in, so Sam and I are outdoors working on it. Sam is the mechanic, of course.

We spent a lot of time the past two weeks looking at 5th wheel trailers to live in, and found this nice 33 foot rig in Phoenix. Our friend Don loaned us his truck and we spent all day yesterday hitching up and hauling it down here! With Sam's trucking experience, he knew the safety requirements, starting with airing up the tires to carry 11,000 pounds. We are so grateful to our new friends, Amy and her husband, and their friend Casey, who loaned us their air compressor and hose! You guys are welcome at the PPR anytime!

We stopped on the way down at some of Sam's favorite places -- truck stops like Tucson's historic TTT -- where he checked tire and hub temperatures and made sure everything was riding well on the trailer.

Our final challenge was surviving the 45 minute crawl down our two and a half miles of dirt road! It's a lot of washboard bumps and we didn't want to shake the new trailer to bits.

Now we have to get the tractor running again so we can finish preparing the site where it will be parked.

My job as mechanic's assistant entails a lot of waiting while I stay out of the wind.

But things are moving along. Slowly!

I hope you all have a great week, as we start this new Christmas season.
