Seems like Wednesday

But it's almost Friday! A short work week is always a nice letdown from the holiday weekend.

I didn't do my exercises and walk on Monday because we were doing projects and who wants their regular routine on a holiday! Then on Wednesday, I didn't go because we had gotten to bed late the night before and had to leave the house at 6:15.

So today I exercised and walked, and it felt good. We still have a lot of flowers all over the ranch. Daisies, poppies, and many more, but today the breeze was drier so the rains might be on their way out.

I saw a lot of deer tracks again today. They're crossing the road at the property next door, which is owned by someone from Phoenix whom we have never met. It's 8 acres of open desert, which must appeal to wild animals.

We bought a TV antenna the other day. For 3 months all we've had is internet and of course we survived just fine. The antenna worked in a temporary location at the front of the house, so Sam mounted it on an existing post at the back.

And now it doesn't work. So Sam's projects this weekend will probably include this. Life can be frustrating sometimes!

On the positive side, we bought a ranch truck! I drove it for the first time this morning. It definitely drives like a truck, but was easy to shift and steer, and will be great on our dirt roads.

We are blessed! Have a great weekend, everyone.

Car show . . . eventually

It's Labor Day weekend and we have three whole days together! Saturday we drove down to Bisbee to see a car show. We parked up the canyon from downtown and stopped for a photo op at the very place where Sam proposed to me 14 years ago. It was called Old Tymers then, and 25 motorcycle friends witnessed the moment! It's quite a fun story, which I'll let Sam tell you another time.

Bisbee is a wonderful place to visit if you like interesting architecture, quirky details, small towns, lots of shops, mining tours, and much more. There's something for everyone.

At the inn on the right, we met a woman who showed us an abandoned mine shaft right in the middle of the hotel.

We eventually made it downtown, where Sam made a new friend (a common occurrence) in Ken, owner of this bicycle shop.

There's so much history in this town; we love it.

After walking around downtown and seeing NO classic cars, we inquired at a visitor's office. Turns out the show was in Warren, a neighborhood 5 miles away!

We finally found it and were happy to hear that Sam's friends made the same mistake. These are their cars, a Thunderbird and a Cadillac. Beautiful!

It was a great show and we saw some of Bisbee we had never seen before.

Lunch was excellent Po Boy sandwiches at this food truck owned by the son of Charlie, who owned Old Tymers 14 years ago (remember, my first photo, above).

Then we spent an enjoyable hour or so exploring 3 nearby thrift shops.

Our last stop was DQ, where I discovered their new yummy fruit smoothies. Sam opted for peanut buster parfait made totally with peanut butter; his favorite.

Hope you've had a great long weekend, everyone!

I've broken the tethers!

Since we sold Sam's Lincolns, I have been fairly tied to the ranch during the week, because we're down to one vehicle, our wonderful little Honda, which Sam drives to work. And I don't mind it because I love it out here.

But yesterday I was saved from the normal tedium by a visit from my old friend, Paula! We're both "old" friends; we have known each other since 1983.

It was her first time at PPR. We toured the ranch, talked a lot, tried a new pizza place in Benson, talked some more, dropped off a job application (3 times), and Paula began to feel like a taxi service! She even took me into Tucson where I met up with Sam after work. Thanks, Paula!

It was a good day!
