Organizing - My Type of Nesting

One dictionary I found describes nesting as "the tendency to arrange one's surroundings to create a place where one feels secure," which is exactly what I do every time I move to a new place. Fitting the necessities into our new little house is a challenge, but it's sure fun when it works.

Yesterday I had a constant helper in Dingus. He's happy that Mom (the all-important human in charge of feeding) is home all day this week.

Everything must be carefully inspected.

Everything!

Right up until naptime, which, of course, is much more important to a cat.

At the end of many hours of organizing and unpacking, I leaned against the deck railing, watched for Sam to come up the driveway, and enjoyed the quiet and the sunset.

Have we said that we love it here?

Cicadas and Stars

We've started hearing the summer sound of cicadas in the mesquite trees at the ranch, and yesterday morning Sam worked his magic, zeroed in on one and captured the chorus. I rarely see them, but Sam can almost always pick out the little creatures.

We brought the cat tower inside and Frankie wasted no time jumping to the top. But it was Dingus who chose the second tier for his morning nap.

Our weekend ended with a session of star gazing in the front yard, although this doesn't do justice to the beautiful night skies we see out here, miles from the city. I'll work on a better photo with my real camera someday.

Have a good week, everyone!

A Quiet Moment or Two

I spent a few hours with my Mom today, having lunch and catching up on life. These times will be more scarce now that we're living at the ranch.

Also spent a few hours in 100+ degree heat (welcome to June in Tucson) loading the car with still more of our stuff.

Now a few quiet moments on a porch swing in the shade of a mesquite tree at a friend's house while I wait for Sam.

They have a pretty yard, with red yucca, bougainvillea, agave and this pretty purple plant. Anyone know what it's called? We had one in our yard, too, but I never looked it up.

Next, a couple more errands,  then home to the PPR!
